House Lansdowne

Painting This Second Empire Heritage Building

As some of you know I’ve been painting the exterior of this house, mostly by myself, since we bought it. It is a dream paint job for me. I absolutely love doing this work. It is hard for me to let anyone else help, as Dan can tell you.

I am still injured. It is not all the fault of painting the house. I was half-way broken before I started. I’ve been a DIYer and painter my whole life and I also lift weights. My elbows were and shoulders were destined to break down.

I had trigger finger surgery in September 2020 and while I’m starting to function properly with my hand now, and recover from the surgery itself, the trigger is starting again. The right lateral epicondyle seems to have improved with rest and rehab but it is still iffy when I do too much. The left arm is still completely useless. No healing or improvement whatsoever.

It really pains us both to open the store without having painted the entire house first. It’s not the first / good impression we wanted to start with. But I can not risk more injury right now. So we are putting off the rest of the painting until the fall and focusing on the store for now. My new painting goal is to finish the house before google maps updates their street pics! How awful it would be to update while half painted! Haha.

Thanks for listening.
